Call for proposals: 22/02/2017
Funding period: 2017–2022
Field of action: Digitalisation and education; Quality in education
Objectives of the funding measure
Cultural education provides children and young people with a large array of educational experiences that help them in their personal development – both socially and emotionally. It is therefore an important component of general education and lifelong learning. Digitalisation, with its profound social and cultural effects, is also changing cultural education – but the consequences and potentials that arise from this are still largely unexplored. Therefore, it is important to investigate, for example, what significance new artistic practices that arise through digitalisation have for cultural education. It is also important to consider from a scientific perspective how digitalisation affects cultural education programmes and teaching and learning processes.
Against this background, the BMBF is funding interdisciplinary basic research in seven collaborative projects and six individual projects. Funding is also being provided for a meta-project at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität (FAU) in Erlangen-Nuremberg. The meta-project will scientifically record and process the results and developments in the funding priority and link them to existing concepts of educational research. It also serves to support the transferability of research results into scientific, practical and social contexts and to further develop the research field through networking of scientists and the promotion of emerging researchers.
